It is most suitable for softwoods, and the toughest material recommended is particleboard.

    Faster More Efficient Tip Technology

BOSCH EXPERT SELF CUT SPEED SPADE BIT
FOR ROTARY DRILLS, ROTARY IMPACT DRILLS, IMPACT SCREWDRIVERS

This Self Cut Speed spade bit for softwood is up to 3 times faster than a Bosch standard spade bit (2609255269).

What are its characteristics and advantages?
    • Its threaded tip allows tradesmen to drill up to 3x faster vs. a Bosch standard spade bit (2609255269) thanks to Bosch Tip Technology
Designed for effortless drilling and speed, this threaded tip pulls the bit through the material more easily; only a light pressure with the drill is needed - especially helpful when drilling upside down or in tight niches
    • Its pointed tip is used as a pre-cut spur and allows precise drilling
    • Its shaped paddle, designed for fast chip removal, quickly removes material from holes and creates aggressive cutting blade angles for faster drilling
    • The spur and reamer allows it to make cleaner holes: the spur scores the hole entry and exit and the reamer cleans the hole before blowout can occur
    • Its 1/4" Hex shank reduces slippage in the chuck and provides maximum power transfer (in standard three-jaw chucks and in 1/4" hexagonal chucks)

For which target group and materials?
    • Target group: Electricians, Plumbers, Carpenters, Installation and building workers, Tradesmen
    • Application: Drilling holes for running pipes or wires running through wooden studs and deck railings, dowel installation, starting a hole for a saw, running lines between floors, etc
    • Materials: Best for softwoods, toughest material recommended is particleboard
    • Power tools: Rotary drills, Rotary impact drills, Impact screwdrivers

COMPARISON WITH OTHER TYPES OF WOOD DRILLING BITS

The reasons for using an Expert Self Cut Speed spade bit over other bits such as standard spade bits, drill bits, auger bits or hole saws vary.

    • Compared to standard spade bits and brad point drill bits: the Expert Self Cut Speed spade bit is faster, easier to use, less expensive compared to Brad Point, most effective on softwood - making it useful for large projects and rough tasks
    • Compared to auger bits: auger bits are much more expensive and less flexible for using in tight situations
    • Hole saws are more expensive. They use a pilot drill bit that features a sharp cutting tip like any drill bits, which requires a strong pressure on the drill to drill, while the threaded tip of the Expert Self Cut Speed spade Bit requires a minimal pressure to drill through the wood
    • Chip removal: while standard bits push the chips until they reach the exit of the hole, the Expert Self Cut Speed spade bit with its wave shaped blade pushes them up and away from the bit, producing less wear and heat - which promotes faster piercing

    PROFESSIONAL TRICKS

Spade bits sometimes cause tear-out (splintering) when drilling all the way through a wooden work-piece.

If there is a clean hole needed and only the Self Cut Speed is available, here a way to avoid the splintering:
    • Clamp a scrap wood to the back side of your workpiece and start drilling. (It's not necessary to drill right through the scrap wood)
    • Once drilled till the scrap wood, go into reverse with your drill driver and softly pull the Self Cut Speed spade bit out of the hole.
    • Remove the scrap wood. You get a clean hole without tear-out.

AN EXPERT ACCESSORY FOR WOODEN INSTALLATIONS

    USER NEED

    Self Cut Speed spade bit

User: I have to drill many holes daily in wood studs for installation of pipes or cables. It takes a lot of time to drill those holes and sometimes there is not much space due to ladders, attics etc.

Bosch solution: The Self Cut Speed spade bit is up to 3 times faster than a Bosch standard spade bit (2609255269) due to its tip technology. The fully threaded cone tip is self-feeding and therefore less effort is needed to drill a hole compared to other drill bits. Also, compared to an Auger drill bit, the Spade Bit needs less space and can therefore also be used in areas.

Why crafstmen prefer to use an
EXPERT Self Cut Speed spade bit
    over other bits?

    bosch

Why crafstmen prefer to use an
EXPERT Self Cut Speed spade bit
    over other bits?

    bosch

Speed – when they need to drill holes quickly
Tight areas (attics) – when an auger does not work because the space is too small
Awkward situations (ladders) - when situations can be out of balance. When the work supports are light
Efficiency – When looking for efficiency to cut through treated/untreated wood and knots with ease

Ease of cutting is especially important because crafstmen are often in difficult-to-maneuver positions and the nature of their work is fatiguing:
“As an electrician, when you are reaching out over a ladder, you want the bit to go through as quickly and easily as it can.”
“With a suitable drill, you can work with one hand with this EXPERT spade bit for drilling; it is easier.”
“When you drill all day your shoulder and arm get tired, so you don't want to carry a heavy and exhausting power tool to operate.”
